In addition to Boone Gorge‘s presentation about Free Software and the University: The Story of the CUNY Commons, Boone will also be speaking at the development track on the afternoon of Oct. 14th. This will be perfect for WordPress developers that want to expand their horizons and see what’s under the covers of BuddyPress!
Developers who have built plugins for WordPress are most of the way to
building BuddyPress plugins too. This session will fill in some of the
missing pieces. We’ll discuss how to structure your plugin so that it
only loads when BP is present, how to check whether a particular BP
component is active, how to use the BuddyPress Skeleton Component and
its internal documentation, a brief primer on BuddyPress loops, and more.
Can’t get enough of Boone’s BuddyPress wizardry?! Stick around, you can join him Oct. 15th as well as BuddyPress lead developer John James Jacoby as they lead the troops and storm the Bastille for BuddyCamp Hack Day! The Hack Day will be moderated by Automattician, Joey Kudish and local designer/developer Jill Binder.
There will be something for everyone, the experienced developer and designer as well as for “non-techies” that want to be part of an effort to create a BuddyPress for Beginners e-book! Hack Day is just limited to the first 150 people that register so don’t delay getting your ticket!
